Many thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge at this well organised show. We were fortunate to be able to judge outside in rings shaded by the trees making it more comfortable for the dogs and exhibitors on a warm, sunny day. Unfortunately, the wind blew over the gazebo over the judges table at one point, which startled some of the dogs. It was dismantled for safety. Thank you to my efficient stewards and to the exhibitors for a lovely entry. It was a privilege to have the opportunity to go over your dogs.

Veteran Dog (3,1) 1 Rutherford and Judge: Riverbrue Galiano Fizz to Clonageera JW. At 9 years old this handsome boy belies his age. He has a racy outline and a balanced length to height ratio with well laid shoulders, a gently sloping topline and correct tail set. Attractive head with low set ears and dark eyes of the correct unshelled almond shape. Straight front, good depth of chest and well sprung ribs. Very neat feet. Good bend of stifle and well-muscled rear enabled him to move with drive around the ring. Best Veteran Dog, Reserve Best Dog and Best Veteran in Show. 2 Hadfield: Staratlanta Get a Wiggle on to Marzanne. Another handsome veteran in good coat and condition. Dark, well-shaped eyes with good stop and raised brows giving a gentle expression. Square finish to the muzzle. Neck fits cleanly into well laid shoulders. Firm topline into good tail set. Good depth of chest and bend of stifle. Moved soundly.

Minor Puppy Dog (2) Two six-month-old litter brothers both giving their handlers a hard time. 1 Berry and Morris: Forfarian The Uncloaked. Promising baby. Moved more steadily than 2 today. I was able to see that he had a good outline with balanced angulation fore and aft and a pleasing firm topline. Attractive head with parallel head planes, good length of muzzle and pronounced occiput. Lovely dark correctly shaped eyes. Nicely angulated in upper arm and shoulders. Needs time to fill out his frame. Will watch his career with interest. 2 Dow: Forfarian The Recruited. Sweet baby who didn’t want to stand still and cooperate today. Attractive head with dark well-shaped eyes under raised brows giving a gentle expression. He has a lovely glossy dark coat colouring. Neck fits smoothly into shoulders. Well bent stifle and hock joints. Rather erratic on the move. This should improve with practice.

Puppy Dog (4) 1 Needs: Covarney Mighty Quinn With Stourford. Well balanced 11 months old puppy of lovely type. Good bone and substance. Raised brows over dark well shaped expressive eyes. Parallel head planes with square finish to the muzzle. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, pleasing topline and tail set. Good depth of chest and spring of rib. Nicely angulated in upper arm and well bent stifles. Moved steadily round the ring. 2 Turner: Dazycutter Blazing Fire. 9 months old boy with a reachy neck into correctly laid shoulders, topline firm with a nicely set tail. Balanced body shape and in lovely coat and condition. He has good upper arm angulation with nicely developing forechest. Pleasing head with pronounced occiput, correctly shaped dark eyes and deep muzzle. Moved well. 3 Jarvis: Marzanne Live Wire.

Junior Dog (4, 1) 1 Shepherd: Casachared Mr Delaneys Son. Almost 16 months upstanding dog of substance with a richly coloured glossy straight coat. Very pleasing overall outline with good angulation fore and aft. Correct straight front leading to neat feet. Deep chest with well sprung ribs. Moved with reach and drive. 2 Hardy, Hardy & Rusinek: Cafotaliena Play With Fire. 14 months boy of different type. Firm topline, well laid shoulders, deep chest and well spung ribs. Good in upper arm and forechest and has a well bent stifle. Correctly shaped eyes with raised brows. Would prefer more refinement in skull and length to the muzzle. Rich chestnut coat. Moved soundly. 3 Poole: Gwendariff Ring Aring Aroses IKC.

Yearling Dog (5,1) 1 Hemmings: Orlanset Slave to Love JW. Coming up to 2 years of age. This dog appeals for type. He is racy in outline, with a nicely arched neck flowing into well laid shoulders. Gently sloping topline with well feathered tail set on correctly. Rich dark coat colouring. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Typical head with dark well shaped eyes. Moved out well. 2 Richardson: Bluesprings Linda’s Legacy at Forestfire. Another quality boy of 22 months who has substance and a racy outline with a reachy neck flowing into a sloping topline. Good angulation fore and aft. Good in upper arm. Well angulated quarters with short strong hocks. Well defined head with a good stop and correct eye shape and low set ears. 3 Foster: Ixia Boys Don’t Cry at Shanoah JW 21 months old. Another lovely boy just not so mature at this stage.

Novice Dog (1) 1 Poole: Gwendariff Ring Aring Aroses IKC. Alone here but worthy of his 1st At 13 months this boy needs to mature in body, but he has a pleasing sloping topline and balanced angulation fore and aft. He has parallel head planes, good stop and a correct eye shape and colour. Moved better in this class.
Undergraduate Dog (1) 1 Kassube and French: Thendara Hot Diamond And Cararua. One I have judged before and he is maturing well. Pleasing overall outline. In good coat with ample feathering. Neck of good length fits cleanly into shoulders. Firm gently sloping topline. Well bodied with a deep chest. Head of lovely type with good stop, correct eye shape and low set ears. Moved soundly.

Graduate Dog (2) 1 Davison: Bardonhill Love Me Tender. Another boy of lovely type. Correct neck into shoulder lay. Firm topline into good tailset. Well sprung ribs and deep in chest. Straight front leading to neat feet. Pleasing forechest. Typical head and with defined stop and low set ears. Moved out soundly covering the ground well. 2 Murray: Quensha I Know Him So Well. This boy has good bone and substance. Well laid shoulders, firm topline into good tail set. Good spring of rib carried back to firm loin and nicely muscled quarters. Dark eyes, low set ears. Movement sound.

Post Graduate Dog (7, 1) Condron and Needs: Covarney Mr Magoo Loved this boy’s super refined head with dark, unshelled almond shaped eyes. Correct stop with raised brows and melting expression. Slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders. Firm topline leading to correct tail set. Balanced in angulation fore and aft. Moved well. 2 Butler: Anlory Sovereign At Rubymoon A boy I’ve judged before and still like him for his type. No exaggeration here. Balanced length to height ratio. Neck fitting smoothly into shoulders. Well angulated fore and aft. Gentle slope to topline. Correct tail set. Ample spring to ribs. Straight front with tight feet. Parallel head planes with well-defined stop. Eyes of correct shape and colour. Movement sound. 3 Pym: Marzanne Trigger Happy By Thendara JW

Limit Dog (5,1) 1 Richardson: Bardonhill McIntosh Red at Montgreenan JW. Judged this boy as a puppy. He has fulfilled his early promise. Now has a richly coloured coat with plenty of feathering. So well balanced in outline. Gently sloping topline leading to correct tail set. Well angulated upper arm and good shoulder lay place his forelegs well under his body. Short coupled with well bent stifles and short strong hocks. Dark correctly shaped eyes, good stop and low set ears give him a soft gentle expression. Moved with good reach and drive. Best Dog and Reserve Best in Show. 2 Cohen: Lynwood Merry May King With Shushana. Another boy with a super head. Dark unshelled almond eyes under raised brows with chiselling under the eyes give him a soft melting expression. Just starting to show a little grey. He has a good front, well laid shoulders and super spring of rib and depth of chest. Correctly sloping topline. Moved soundly. 3 Pullen and Atkin: Covarney Pickpocket at Jacingail.

Veteran Bitch (5,2) 1 Heather: Sixoaks Leading Lady. A favourite of mine of lovely type who is still in very good condition for her age. She has balance without exaggeration and still moves very well with a lashing tail action. Beautiful dark correctly shaped eyes. Now with white flecking in her face she still retains that soft gentle expression. 2 Sharman and Jennings-Sharman: Kerrimere Red Ribbon JW. Another very appealing veteran girl who also moved with that lashing tail action. Neck fits smoothly into a gently sloping topline and good tail set. Correct depth of chest and spring of rib. Balanced angulation fore and aft. Feminine refined head with low set ears. 3 Hadfield: Covarney Estee Avec Marzanne JW

Puppy Bitch (4,1) 1 Menhennet: Marzanne Lightnin Strikes Over Whistlebush. Reachy neck into gently sloping topline. Straight front leading to neat feet. Pleasing in upper arm and shoulder angulation. Good forechest. Well bodied with good depth to chest and ribs developing well. She has an attractive head with parallel head planes, enough stop and low set ears. Moved steadily but needs to strengthen in rear quarters. 2 George: Dazycutter Fire Dancer. This girl has a good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. More level in topline than 1st at this stage. Straight, dark coat in lovely condition. She also has a decent forechest and good upper arm angulation. Balanced head proportions with correctly shaped dark eyes and pronounced occiput. Moved ok but I think she was feeling the heat today. 3 Davie: Zimbra Della Magna Sila at Lochfrae.

Junior Bitch (5, 2) 1 Prangle: Heathclare Faberge. Very well-balanced girl. Good reach of neck fitting smoothly into shoulders, firm topline. Well bodied with a rich chestnut coat. Good in upper arm angulation and bend of stifle. Well-muscled quarters. She just had the edge on movement today. Pretty head with well-defined stop and correct unshelled almond shaped eyes. 2 Stevenson: Gwendariff Cracklin Rosie For Lochlorien (IKC). Close up to 1st Another quality youngster with a lovely outline. Neck flows smoothly into well laid shoulders. Gently sloping topline to well set tail. Well angulated fore and aft. She has a sweet refined head with raised brows over correctly shaped eyes. Straight front leading to neat feet. Moved soundly. 3 Shepherd: Casachared Joleens Lady Red.

Well bent stifle and hock joints. Refined head with dark eyes, correct stop and low set ears. Tight feet. Stylish mover. 2 Taylor: Dendroch Anne Frank. Lovely type. She has substance. Neck fitting nicely into shoulders and a gently sloping topline. Richly coloured coat. Unexaggerated balanced angulation. Parallel head planes. Good stop. Dark eyes of correct shape. Deep in chest with ribs carried well back to arched loin. She has forechest and pleasing upper arm angulation. Strong quarters and short strong hocks. Feminine head with correct stop and well-shaped eyes. She was sound on the move striding out well. Have seen her in better coat condition. 2 Rutherford: Clonageera Summer Moments. Good reach of neck into correct shoulder lay. Firm topline to good tail set. Well bodied with good spring of ribs and good depth of chest. Well angulated fore and aft. Attractive head with low set ears and well-defined stop. Medium brown eyes of the correct unshelled almond shape giving a soft expression. Post Graduate Bitch (8) Super class full of quality girls making for difficult decisions. Wished I had more prize cards. Top 3 stood out for me. 1 Mitchell: Kerryfair Misty Love For Amblin. Pretty girl, long and lean in head with dark hazel eyes of correct shape under raised brows. Square finish to muzzle. Neck fitting cleanly into correct shoulder lay. Topline flows gently down to correct tail set. I found her so well balanced for length and height. Correct in upper arm with a straight front leading to tight neat feet. Well bent stifles, well-muscled with short strong hocks. Moved with good reach and drive. Reserve Best Bitch 2 Mugford: Kedalita Abfab For Lynwood JW. Quality girl with neck of correct length fitting smoothly into well laid shoulders. Firm topline and good tail set. Very good upper arm angulation and bend of stifle. Long and lean in head with good square finish to the muzzle. Well defined stop. Eyes of lovely shape and giving a lovely gentle expression. Moved stylishly round the ring. She has a firm gently sloping topline leading to a good tail set. Ribs well sprung and correct depth of chest. Correct upper arm angulation and well bent stifle and hock joints. Refined feminine head with low set ears and dark unshelled almond eyes giving a melting expression. Well-muscled quarters. She moved with good reach and drive to take Best Bitch and Best in Show overall. 2 Clarke: Covarney Dream Time From Bronrians JW Different type to first this mature girl has substance and is more rugged in build. Attractive head with good stop and raised brows over correctly shaped eyes. Ears set on low. She has well laid shoulders fitting smoothly into a firm slightly sloping topline and good tail set. She is well bodied with ample feathering. She has a nice forechest, good upper arm angulation and well bent stifles. Short strong hocks and well-muscled quarters enabled her to move with drive round the ring. 3 Hadfield: Covarney Time After Time For Marzanne

She has a gently sloping topline leading to a correct tail set. Good shoulder lay, and pleasing upper arm. Straight front with neat feet. Ribs well sprung with good depth of chest. She has a rich chestnut coat with plenty of feathering. She moved soundly but I felt she lacked enthusiasm on the day.
