I would like to thank the MISS Committee for offering me this judging appointment and being
so warm and friendly on the day. Also, well done for organising such a lovely show in a great
venue with fabulous food. Everything went really smoothly and the atmosphere was a credit
to everyone involved. Thanks also to my Stewards, LIndsey and Julie for keeping me
organised and keeping the ring running smoothly. It was the end of a busy week in the show
world so my last thanks goes to the exhibitors who gave me a super entry, considering the
hot weather, and accepted my decisions in a sporting manner.
I was really pleased with the quality of my entry, on the whole. My winning lineups, I believe,
showed dogs that had super quality and, above all, moved well, the true test of correct
conformation and ‘fit for purpose’. I noticed that quite a few dogs did not run straight on the
‘out and back’ which meant their back legs were too close. Often they did not start straight
and this does not help. Also, exhibitors need to avoid too much pressure on the lead on the
run which often sees a reaction from the dog and spoils the movement. Keep an eye on
these couple of points exhibitors!

Veteran Dog (2,0)
1st Harris’ Blazing Bronze Happy Clappy Sings Konakela (IMP.NLD) JW
7 year old veteran who enjoyed his day out for sure. He moved nicely with purpose and drive
which helped him win this class. He has a super, classic head with parallel lines and soft but
masculine expression with raised brows and dark eyes, low set ears. He is showing a little of
his age now. He wasn’t always keen to stand in the heat but when he settled I was able to
appreciate his balanced outline with a correctly sloping topline and tail just below the level of
his back. Well boned and good forechest. Still full of coat. Pleased to award him Best
Veteran in Show.
2nd Foster’s Goldnavarm Endurance at Shanoah
8 year old veteran who didn’t quite match my winner on the move today. When he settled in
the stack he was a nice classic shape with an arched, strong neck flowing to a gently sloping
topline and correctly set tail. Deep chest, straight front, good forechest, well boned dog.
Preferred the head of my winner.
Minor Puppy Dog (1,0)
1st Foster’s Ixia Boys Don’t Cry at Shanoah
8 month old puppy who was nicely balanced with no exaggeration. Liked his shape when he
was stood, with a correct, slightly sloping topline and correct angulation. Good forechest.
Nice tight feet. Thick, deep chestnut coat which was a little too wavy for my preference.
Moved very steadily for his young age. Lovely head with dark almond shaped eye and raised
brows giving him a pleasing expression. Low set ears. Good length of leg and bend of stifle
with short hocks.
Puppy Dog (2,0)
1st Richardson’s Bluesprings Linda’s Legacy at Forestfire
9 month old puppy with much to like. When stacked he looked all in proportion, with a classic
head shape completing a pleasing picture. Good length of neck which flowed nicely to a
clean topline which was gently sloping. Tail set on correctly. Good length of leg. Front and
rear angles were correct, sufficient forechest, straight front and just the right amount of
weight and bone on him. Deep red, straight coat, correct for the breed. Pleased to award him
Best Puppy in Show.
2nd Foster’s Ixia Boys Don’t Cry at Shanoah (See above)
Junior Dog (3,1)
1st Harris’ Fairhaven Young Soul for Konakela (Imp.Swe) JW
When this boy settled in the stack he demonstrated a nicely balanced picture with a nice
arched, strong neckline, correct angulation front and rear, straight front, nice feet, sloping
topline. Deep, chest, well sprung ribs. Nice straight coat with a full feathered tail. Moved out
well
2nd Abbot and Milligan-Bott’s Thendara Haribo
Substantial, masculine dog who has a super outline when stacked. Strong in all areas, well
bodied. He has a strong, arched neck leading to a firm, sloping topline and correct, well
feathered tail. Deep chest. Good, tight feet. Well prepared and presented. Classic head of
correct proportions, dark eye, current oval shaped skull. Nice chiselling to his head. Just
preferred the type of the winner.
Yearling Dog (5,1)
1st Dewar’s Gwendariff Bobby Dazzler (IKC)
Another opportunity for me to assess this promising youngster who deserved his first place.
He has a super head with dark, almond shaped eyes, raised brows, good stop and well
defined occiput. Stacked, he is nicely in proportion and his feathering is developing nicely.
Shown in super, chestnut, straight coat. Deep chest, well sprung ribs, excellent forechest,
super topline and correctly set tail. He excelled on the move covering the ground without
effort, maintaining his topline and using his tail to full advantage.
2nd Davison’s Bardonhill Love Me Tender
A little unsteady on the move today this youngster. Nice head in correct proportion, with
good chiselling, raised brows and dark eye giving him a lovely expression. On assessment
he is well constructed with good forechest, well ribbed and correct topline and tail set.
Couldn’t match the movement of the class winner today

Under Graduate Dog (1,1)
Graduate Dog (3,1)
1st Davison’s Bardonhill Million Reasons
Well put together, solid dog who possesses a super, masculine head which draws you in
with those raised brows and dark eyes. Stacked he is balanced and in proportion. Strong
neckline flows to a correctly sloping topline and correctly set on tail, just below the level of
the back. Deep chest, prominent forechest. Well boned. The coat is a little too wavy for me.
Moved a little sideways on the ‘out and back’ but looked much better in profile striding out
confidently.
2nd Rose-Hay’s Cataluna Sir Lancelot
This boy moved well with a great tail action. Classic type with a straight coat. Nice head, in
correct proportion. Stood he presented a reasonable outline with a nice, slightly sloping
topline but fell away at the croup a little Good length of leg.
Post-Graduate Dog (5,3)
1st Bentley’s Penclippin Jubilee Flame JW
Liked this dog a lot and he was in my thoughts for Reserve Best Dog. Just 3 years old and
I’m sure he will do well in the future. He won the class on his overall balance and his
movement. Really liked his head based on parallel planes and correct proportions. Raised
brows and dark eye give him a super expression. Good forechest, well sprung ribs and deep
chest. Strong topline and well placed tail. I liked his coat which had just a little movement, in
great condition and was not too heavy. Moved with purpose.
2nd Butler’s Anlory Sovereign at Rubymoon
3 year old dog who moved soundly. Stood, he presents a balanced picture and on
assessment he was well constructed with good prosternum, strong neck, well sprung ribs,
deep chest and nice tight feet. He has a very pleasing, masculine head, raised brows with
just enough chiselling.
Limit Dog (2,1)
1st Sheldon’s Bardonhill A Million Ways to Delsanto
Stood alone today but worthy of his class win. Judged him before and much of what I
thought last time still applies. He may not have the finish yet but what a lovely dog to get
your hands on. Everything is in the right place and just enough of it. Lovely flat coat of the
correct colour, just a little lacking in fullness. A picture of balance when stood, no
exaggerations at all. Pleasing head, correctly proportioned and his dark eye and raised
brows give him the soft but masculine expression. Everything flows as it should from his
clean neck into a correctly sloping topline into a tail which he used well on the move. Straight
front. He is maturing slowly, as this breed should, and I’m sure his best days are ahead of
him.
Open Dog (3,0)
1st Corless’s Swiftlark Spellbinder
My star of the day! This boy is now fully matured and is now realising his potential. Today he
arrived in fabulous coat, prepared to perfection and stood out amongst the other exhibits. I
have watched him over the last few years from the ringside and this is the best I have seen
him. I have previously said that he has the qualities to compete for top honours and now he
is doing just that. Deep chestnut coat in excellent condition covers his frame. Clean strong
neck flows into his strong, gently sloping topline. Good width of body. Correct angulation
front and rear, short hocks allowed him to drive around the ring with head held high and
using his tail well. Super, masculine head, correctly shaped, with a well defined occiput. He
has an expression that defines the breed and draws you in. Covered the ground really well
with reach and drive. So pleased to award him Best Dog and Best In Show.
2nd Davison’s Bardonhill You Don’t Fool Me
Another cracking dog shown in full feathering today, in great condition, a credit to his
owners. Unlucky to meet the winner in such great form. A different type of dog but lots to like
about him. He is racy with a balanced outline, nothing overdone, when stood. He has a finer
head than the winner, in correct proportions. Just the right amount of ‘work’, raised brows
and dark, almond shaped eyes give him the classic expression. Moved well across the
ground without effort. Pleased to award him Reserve Best Dog and pushed hard for Reserve
Best In Show.
Veteran Bitch (8,7)
1st Millington’s Lanstara Scarlet Ribbons for Pennybourne
7 year old bitch of medium size. Stood, she was balanced and proportionate. She has a
lovely head in the correct proportions. On assessment she is a little overweight but is well
constructed. Strong neck, gently sloping topline and correctly set on tail. Moved ok. Not quite
her best coat today. Best Veteran Bitch
Minor Puppy Bitch (1,0)
1st Rose-Hay’s Shelindair Chocolate Flake with Cataluna
7-month old young lady who, when stood, presented a lovely outline. Well constructed and
carrying just the right amount of body for her age. Pleasing head, in correct proportion, with
kind expression and well defined occiput. Straight front, good forechest, well ribbed and
good straight coat. Good length of leg. Sadly she was very unsettled on the move on this
occasion, which was a shame as I think she would have pushed the Dog for BPIS.
Puppy Bitch (1,1)
Junior Bitch (4,2)
Two super quality bitches from the same mould! Absolutely splitting hairs with these two.
Could happily have taken both home!
1st Nicholl’s Riverbrue Storm
Just edged out her litter sister on her super movement. Super outline when stacked. A
picture of balance with no exaggeration whatsoever. Alert, feminine expression with raised
browns, dark almond shaped eyes, low set ears. Well boned, good for body, super, straight
coat. Nice topline and tailset. Correct angulation front and rear and just the right amount of
forechest. She moved really well for her handler. Definitely one for the future!
2nd Berry and Morris’ Riverbrue Mystique Avec Brinara
To be honest, all of the above applies here, just not as good one the move as her litter sister
on the day. I’m sure these two will swap places many times over the next few years.
Yearling Bitch (3,2)

Novice Bitch (3,3)
Under Graduate Bitch (2,0)
1st Berry and Morris’ Riverbrue Mystique Avec Brinara (see above)
2nd Rose-Hay’s Cataluna La Luna
Feminine, pretty young lady who was well constructed. When stood her slightly arched back
spoilt the picture a little but she was good to go over with good body and bone. Was quite
unsteady on the move on this occasion.
Graduate Bitch (6,2)
What a super class of four lovely ladies giving me a really tough decision.
1st Mitchell’s Kerryfair Misty Love For Amblin
2 ½ year old bitch won this super class on her movement and quality. So balanced when
stood. She has a feminine, pretty head with a classic Irish expression with raised brows and
dark eye. Head all in proportion. She is well put together with a clean neck flowing into a
gently sloping topline. Well ribbed and correct angles front and rear. Correct straight coat in
good condition. She powered around the ring with drive and precision for her handler. She
has a cheekiness about her. Definitely one to watch for the future.
2nd Williamson’s Caskeys United With Bluesprings JW
Unlucky to meet the winner in such fine form. I have judged this young lady before and like
her a lot. She is elegant and balanced, slightly larger than the winner. In great condition, well
muscled, deep chest, correct angles front and rear. Straight front, well boned. In good coat.
Moved well around the ring.
Post Graduate Bitch (5,3)
1st Cox’s Tiroen The Sky’s The Limit
Spotted this 2 year old bitch recently and was pleased to see she had been entered. She is
of medium size and is super feminine with such a pretty head and expression. Loved her
type and she moved with elegance and purpose. Long arched neck, sloping topline and tail
just set off her back. Coat in great condition and just enough feathering for her young age.
Well sprung ribs, good forechest and just the right amount of body. Tight feet. Pleased to
award her Best Bitch and Reserve Best in Show
2nd McDonald’s Quensha Galway Girl
Pushed the winner all the way! A super bitch who I’m sure will do well in the future. Loved
her head with her soft, feminine expression. Dark eye, raised brows give her that ‘look’. She
has a super outline when stacked, nothing overdone. Nice clean neckline flows to a correctly
sloping topline and well set on tail. Good thick coat. She moved well around the ring. I was
keen to call her back into the challenge and to give her Reserve Best Bitch.
Limit Bitch (6,3)
1st Parson’s Forfarian Flutt’r Yer Lashes At Bransett
Judged this lady before and there is a lot to like. She moves with purpose and drive using
her short hocks, with head held high and good tail action. Stood, she is balanced and
elegant. Her expression draws you in, so soft and feminine. Nice neckline into well laid back
shoulders, gently sloping topline. Correct angulation front and rear. Just lacks that fullness of
coat to finish the picture.
2nd Naylor’s Nigsett Skyfall
4 year old bitch. Very nice bitch who was well presented. Pleasing head with good stop and
defined occiput. Nice front with enough bone. Well constructed with a nice neckline, well laid
back shoulders and good topline. She moved efficiently around the ring with pace and
precision
Open Bitch (4,3)
1st Rose-Hay’s Cataluna Winter Wonderland
6 year old bitch who has a nice outline when she settled on the stack. She has a nice kind
expression. Well bodied with sufficient bone, tight feet. She has a nice firm topline, correctly
set tail and correct angulation front and rear. Well ribbed, deep chest. She moved
reasonably well.
