Critique of  M.I.S.S show of 4 July

The Midlands Irish Setter Society held their Open Show at Leicester Racecourse on 4 July 2021.

I had a lovely day and would like to take this opportunity of sincerely thanking the M.I.S.S for inviting me to judge our gorgeous breed.

1^st MITCHELL’S SH.CH. AMBLIN’S SWEET WILLIAM

So much to admire about this nearly 9 year old..Honest and kind in his demeanour, correct angulation of fore and hindquarters, well sprung ribs and coat in good condition. Moved well.

2^nd SAVAGE’S GWENDARIFF THE RINGMASTER AT FIREFALL

I have liked this lovely 8 year old dog for a long time. Put together really well, good front and hind quarters, showing strength and substance. Moved soundly showing co-ordination when viewed from the front, behind and the side.

This 9 year and 6 month old pretty lady looked well. Good conformation, well muscled hindquarters with good bend of stifle.Well co-ordinated movement.

Lovely looking well balanced minor puppy dog with coat in good condition. On the stance topline gently sloping down from the withers. Slightly unsettled on the move.

1^st HEATHER’S SIX OAKES MY FAIR LADY

Pretty headed 7 month old young girl showing correct shaped dark eye and an oval skull with a well defined  occipital protuberance. Good body. A settled performance when on the move for one so young, showing much promise.

2^nd BELL AND BARKER BELL’S BALINTYNE  SING IT BACK

Another refined pretty bitch, appealing head and outline. Moved OK.

This balanced young fellow had good forequarters with shoulders deep and sloping well back. Forelegs  strait and sinewy and showing plenty of bone. Moved well with co-ordination.

1^st BOX’S FERNSTART HEARTS DELIGHT

Racy, elegant and full of substance describes this young girl. Unshelled almond shaped dark expressive eyes, raised brows showing stop and with occiput to stop and stop to tip of nose parallel and of equal length, contributed to a very pretty head. Moved well with purpose showing drive and reach.

Close between first and second. Another pretty headed bitch with good forequarters and well  let  down and free elbows. Well bodied with well sprung ribs. Moved with co-ordination.

Super handsome lad showing many attributes. On the stance proportionate in conformation, racy and full of quality. Good forequarters and hindquarters wide and powerful with well let down hocks. Moved well showing perfect co-ordination.

2^nd HEMMING’S ORLANSET MANDOLIN

I liked this good looking fellow with his moderately long neck slightly arched, setting cleanly without a break of topline into the shoulders. Firm straight topline sloping gently downwards from the withers.Moved well.

Took my eye whilst in the line and did not disappoint when going over her. Beautiful head and body with well sprung ribs carried well back to slightly arched muscular loins.

Best mover in class showing perfect co-ordination when viewed from front, rear and in profile.

Handsome young dog with correct forequarters and strong well muscled hindquarters . Stifle and  hock joints well bent. Luxurious coat with tail well feathered. Moved well keeping topline whilst on the move.

2^nd CORLESS’S SWIFTLARK SPELLBINDER

Another handsome dog in good condition. Good shoulders, deep and sloping well back. Moved well with purpose.

Beautiful looking racy young lady, showing refinement and elegance. Correct front and rear angulation. Well bodied with deep chest . Ribs well sprung carried well back to a muscular loin. Topline held whilst on the move which was executed with purpose and drive. Feet small and tight.

Pretty headed , well balanced young bitch. A lovely coat  and in good condition. Moved well with good forward reach and hind drive.

I admired this dog a great deal with his handsome head with its well defined occipital protuberance, raised brows showing stop and correct shaped dark eye. A moderately long, muscular, arched neck was set into correct shoulder placement. Moved very well.

Another quality boy. Lovely head showing a kind eye Good fore and muscular hind quarters. Moved correctly with free flowing movement.

This racy, balanced girl was full of quality with her lovely head and good body. Topline gently sloping down from the withers, Hindquarters strong and well muscled with stifle and hock joints well bent. Moved well and correctly.

2^nd BELL AND BARKER- BELL’S BALINTYNE LET IT BE ME

Pretty headed bitch, again full of quality. Good shoulder placement and strong hindquarters. Moved well with enthusiasm.

A most handsome and refined gentleman with a gorgeous head and a kind eye. Balanced throughout, this boy has strong muscular hindquarters, hocks well let down which were short and strong On the move got his hocks well under himself, enabling hind propulsion and forward reach with the minimum of effort. Best mover in class.

Genuine type of bitch showing a kind temperament . Good front forequarters with front legs straight and sinewy. Elbows free and let down. Good body with well sprung ribs, possibly carrying slightly too much weight, which may have affected her chances in the challenge. Moved correctly and well.

2^nd KENNEDY-SLOANE’STWO ACRES DESTINY

This attractive headed bitch was proportionate in conformation. Moderately long neck set cleanly into the shoulders. Moved quite well.

A very handsome boy, full of quality. Good angulation of forequarters and hindquarters. Good deep chest and well sprung ribs carried well back to muscular loins. Firm straight topline gently sloping down from withers. Good tail set. Movement was free flowing showing true action when viewed from any angle.

Another really super racy dog, with dark kind eyes and a lovely coat showing good condition. Hindquarters were strong and muscular with well let down hocks.

A genuine, kind type of bitch with a lovely coat in good condition. Pretty head with correct eye shape. Feet small and tight. Used her tail well whilst on the move.

Pretty headed bitch with raised brows giving the appearance of stop. Eyes dark and kind showing quizzical look. Well bodied showing good angulation front and hind.

1^st MUIR’S GWENDARIFF I’M COMING OUT JW

Loved this cheeky chappie with his gorgeous head  and his mischievous kind eyes as soon as I saw him enter the ring. Full of quality, this racy dog was balanced throughout. A moderately  long arched  neck set cleanly without a break  into the shoulder. Topline firm and straight gently sloped down to the withers. Correct tail set. Hindquarters wide and powerful. Good bend of stifle and well let down hocks. A very good mover with hocks well under him, showed a good correct driving action when viewed from behind, the front and profile.

Another racy boy with pleasing, well proportioned blend in of dogs features. Moved well with hindquarter propulsion.

This beautiful refined elegant bitch had many pleasing attributes. Pretty head and  long graceful neck fitted well into shoulder placement. Good body with well sprung ribs carried well back to muscular loins. Strong well muscled  hindquarters . Correct tail set and used her tail well whilst on the move. Moved very well with true action when viewed from the front, the rear and profile.
